Concealers are cosmetic products used to hide skin imperfections such as dark circles, pimples, blemishes, redness, or signs of fatigue. They can be more or less full-coverage, depending on the formula, and are available in various formats, such as cream, liquid, stick, or pen. Concealers are designed to provide targeted coverage on specific areas of the face. Their consistency is generally thicker than foundation, to ensure greater coverage, but there are also lighter formulas for delicate coverage.
Concealers are available in different colors, each with a specific function:
- Beige/cream concealer: the most common, used to cover imperfections such as pimples, blemishes or redness.
- Yellow/Peach Concealer: Perfect for hiding blue or purple under-eye circles, as yellow and peach neutralize cool tones.
- Green concealer: useful for covering redness or inflamed pimples, as the green counteracts the red.
- Orange concealer: Suitable for darker skin or for covering very dark circles, as the orange counteracts the blue or purple in dark circles.
- Lavender Concealer: Helps neutralize yellow skin or dark circles, creating a fresh, luminous look.
How to use:
- Before applying concealer, it's important to moisturize your skin, especially the under-eye area, to prevent the product from building up in fine lines.
- To cover dark circles, choose a concealer a shade slightly lighter than your skin tone. Apply it with your finger, a brush, or a sponge to the under-eye area, creating an inverted triangle shape to brighten the area. Gently pat the product into the skin to blend it in.
- For pimples, blemishes, or redness, choose a concealer that matches your skin tone. Apply the product directly to the area you want to cover and blend well with your finger or a small brush. If necessary, apply a second layer for more coverage.
- After applying concealer to the desired areas, blend the product along the edges to avoid visible lines. Use a sponge, brush, or even your finger for a more natural result.
- To prevent your concealer from shifting throughout the day, you can set it with a light translucent powder. This step is especially useful under the eyes, where the skin is thinner and more prone to movement.
- If you want to intensify the coverage, you can apply another layer of concealer to the most problematic areas. However, it's important not to overdo it to avoid a heavy look.
Advice:
- It's essential to choose the right concealer for the type of imperfection you want to cover. When used correctly, concealer not only hides imperfections, but can also brighten the face and create a fresh, rested look.
- Too much concealer can create a cakey look, especially under the eyes. Use small amounts and build coverage gradually.
- Concealer is often used after foundation to perfect the skin. However, in some cases, it can be applied first, if desired, for a more natural look.
